1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible by Franklin Mint

The Chevrolet Bel Air was a full-size automobile that was produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 1950–1975 model years. This charming model from Franklin Mint is the second generation Bel Air produced in the years 1955-57.

The 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air was America's most popular car for 1955. Chevrolet shed its conservative, stuffy public perception by revealing the clean, youthful lines of the Bel Air. Sleek design elements from WWII aircraft and European sports cars replaced the puffy, rounded car bodies that typified the automobiles of the early 1950s. Additionally, the Bel Air offered its cutting-edge design and a V8 engine at an economical price. Chevrolet's sleek 'Motoramic' styling featured a wrap-around windshield, curved taillights styled into rounded rear fins and incorporated a Ferrari-inspired grille. Bel Airs came with features found on cars in the lower models ranges plus interior carpet, chrome headliner bands on hardtops, chrome spears on front fenders, stainless steel window moldings, and full wheel covers. Models were further distinguished by the Bel Air name script in gold lettering.

Franklin Mint 1/43 Model is in original two-tone paint scheme Skyline Blue / India Ivory. All of the trim and chrome fit exceedingly well on the straight body. I love this model. It is over 25 years old, I bought it on German ebay for only 25 euros, and due to the high quality is absolutely in perfect condition, will overtake the current model by Vitesse. Look for:
