The first generation Corvette (C1) was introduced late in the 1953 model year. Originally designed as a show car for the 1953 Motorama display at the New York Auto Show. To help speed up delivery, and to save the cost of metal dies for the production of sheet metal bodies, Corvettes had bodies made of reinforced fiberglass, a first for production cars. All 1953 Corvette models had Polo White exteriors and red interiors , as well as this 1/43 model Franklin Mint. The sporty instrument panel and steering wheel were stark white and the upholstered interior side walls were fiery red.
Franklin Mint made this high standard model in the year1990 in his prestigious series "Extension Set 50's". The model has beautiful details and lots of parts, sophisticated six-cylinder engine nick-named the "Blue Flame" and very detailed chassis . Unfortunately, a lot of models already lost some fine parts, especially small parts of bumpers. This model is complete, but is made up of two models!
Nice details: protected headlights, the rear license plate holder is in the trunk, covered with a plastic.
